Eurofins Product Testing Italy is a Notified Body (No. 0477) for the Directive 2014/34/EU and a Certification Body (ExCB) and Testing Laboratory (ExTL) recognized within the international IECEx Certification Scheme

In addition, thanks to the collaboration with Eurofins E&E North America (MET Labs), Eurofins Product Testing Italy can support companies throughout the entire MET certification process for products operating in Hazardous Locations destined for the North American market (MET Mark).

Furthermore, thanks to the collaboration with colleagues at Eurofins E&E CML Ltd., Eurofins Product Testing Italy is able to support its clients in obtaining UK Ex certification (UKCA Mark).

ATEX, IECEx Testing and Certification activities

Eurofins Product Testing Italy, provides testing and certification services for equipment, components, safety devices, and protective systems designed for use in explosive atmospheres. Our qualified personnel operate across multiple countries — Italy, Germany, Switzerland, Finland, United Kingdom, China, and the United States — ensuring consistent technical expertise and local accessibility.

We are accredited under both the European ATEX Directive framework and the international IECEx scheme, covering the full cycle from initial testing through to certification.

ATEX — Directive 2014/34/EU (Explosive Atmospheres)

Eurofins Product Testing Italy operates as a Notified Body and Testing Laboratory under the ATEX Directive, offering clients a single point of contact for both certification and testing activities:

Notified Body No. 0477:

• Issuance of EU Type Examination certificates (Annex III of the Directive)
• Issuance of Unit Verification certificates (Annex IX of the Directive)
• Periodic production inspections with issuance of the relevant certificates QAN (Annexes IV and VII of the Directive) / periodic product verifications with issuance of the relevant certificates (Annexes V and VI of the Directive)
• Technical File storage and issuance of the corresponding storage receipt (Art. 13(1)(b)(ii) of the Directive)

Testing Laboratory:

• Complete testing of small-sized equipment, conducted in our laboratory
• Testing of large explosion-proof equipment and protective systems, conducted at our dedicated outdoor test site

IECEx — International Certification Scheme

Eurofins Product Testing Italy is recognized as a Certification Body (ExCB) and Testing Laboratory (ExTL) within the IECEx international Certification Scheme, and has as additional associated laboratories the following ExTLs: Eurofins E&E North America (MET Labs) in US, Eurofins E&E Product Testing AG in Suisse and Eurofins E&E CML Ldt. in UK, offering clients a single point of contact for both certification and testing activities:

Certification Body (ExCB):

• Technical evaluations aimed at issuing the CoC (Certificate of Conformity)
• Technical evaluations aimed at issuing the Unit Verification CoC
• Periodic production inspections with issuance of the QAR (Quality Assessment Report)

Testing Laboratory (ExTL):

• Testing and assessment activities leading to the issuance of ExTR (IECEx Test Reports)

In the ATEX field, Eurofins Product Testing Italy is accredited as a Notified Body for the certification of electrical and non-electrical devices (all protection concepts are covered) and protective systems falling into the scope of the Directive.

Hazardous Locations Certification for North America 

• Collaboration with NRTL (National Recognized Test Laboratory) Eurofins E&E NA Inc. (MET Labs), for testing and certification activities on products according to North America HazLoc standards, and for issuing the MET mark for market access in the United States and Canada
• Follow-up Factory Inspection at the manufacturer's facility to retain certification

UK Ex Certification for the United Kingdom 

• Issuance of UK Ex certification through collaboration with Eurofins E&E CML Ltd., UKCA Approved Body, based on existing ATEX Type Examination certificates and QANs
• Technical Files storage and issuance of storage receipt
