1 BUSINESS UNIT MANAGER

Eurofins Biolab is looking for a Business Unit Manager to lead and expand the Business Unit dedicated in providing DNA-based services. The Business Unit Manager will report to the Board of Directors.

OVERALL OBJECTIVES:

- Development and Implementation of strategic concepts to grow the sales and market share in the geographical reporting location
- Active participation in several pathways of revenue growth (marketing, sales, negotiations for M&A or partnerships/outsourcing opportunities) in order to help the current team reaching the yearly budget targets.
- Recruitment and management of the required team, including field sales people and agents, customer support/admin representatives, and lab staff
- Implement operational and service activity in Italy in conditions that allow a strong differentiation with the current level of services offered in the market, in order to position the entity as a leader in its market within 2 years.
- Prepare and submit budget and mid-term planning over 3 years

MAIN ASSIGNMENTS: daily business

- Methodical market screening, competitor and customer analysis. Identification of customer needs, application trends, purchasing profiles and customer satisfaction, with the support of the local sales representatives.
- Analyse existing product portfolio and marketing strategy and prepare gap analysis to the market and customer needs
- Analyse existing service level of the local Eurofins organisation, and prepare gap analysis to the market and customer needs
- Prepare, participate and follow-up the execution of the defined strategy
- Establish contact to opinion leaders in industry and academia
- Identify and initiate M&A and partnerships opportunities
- Supervise projects of implementation of local operational platforms if/as needed
- Ensure excellence of service to end-customers via the local admin/customer support team, and proper interactions with other Eurofins Laboratories
- Ensure proper financial control reporting of deviations to budget

REQUIREMENTS:

Minimum 10 years experience in the Life Science Industry or a similar sector in Italy, with successful roles in management of Sales, Marketing, and/or Business Development.
Excellent knowledge of the Life science customers (academic and private sectors) and market in Italy.
Capacity or Experience of General Management of a local entity/business unit/division, including budgeting, P&L responsabilities, and supervision of operation/admin/finance/S&M activities.
Numeracy
Open and positive mindset
Self-motivated, eager to work in a small fast-growing entity
Proactive, looking for challenge to work on complex problems
Outstanding communication skills
Language: Italian + English (fluent)

PREFERRED SKILLS:

Biologist / Biochemist / Chemist (MD or ideally PhD level)
Broad educational background combining several major and minor specialties including technical, administrative, finance management and/or business specialties (MBA would be a plus)
Theoretical and practical knowledge in molecular biology
Knowledge on financial background of product cost and profitability

LOCATION :

The position is based in Milano, where the candidate shall need to spend minimum 2 days a week.
The position requires very frequent travels (weekly) within the Italy territory, and some travels (1 or 2 per quarter) to other countries in Europe.

1 ANALYTICAL SUPERVISIOR

The Analytical Supervisor for our R&D Pharma Department is a Hands on and Lead by example role. He/She will have the following responsibilities:

- You will be asked to plan and execute laboratory method development activities (mainly method set-up and validation according to ICH and/or other relevant guidelines, impurities identifications and quantitation, Extractable & Leachable evaluation, stability studies and development of stability indicating methods on raw materials/drug substances and drug products, packaging and finished drug products);
- The ability to work on biological and large molecules is a plus;
- Oversight and direction of day to day activities and scheduling of laboratory personnel are required. You will be asked to support many different Clients and projects every day with a tight scheduling;
- Mentorship, Team Building, ability to work in a cooperative environment are also a major part of this role;
- Managerial experience is a MUST, you will be directing the activities of project leaders and technicians with different levels of experience and degrees. Technical guidance, training and support the group is required when necessary as well;
- You will coordinate your activities with the Qualified Person and our International Sales Team;
- The ability to write technical reports (both in English and Italian) to document analytical methods is a MUST;
- You'll be asked to provide guidance to laboratory personnel to maintain safe laboratory practices.

The requirements of the Analytical Lab Supervisor are as follows:

- At a minimum, you should have a 5 years degree in Chemistry, with analytical emphasis. (An advanced degree like a PhD would be considered a plus)
- Hands on Industry experience required is 8 or more years in an analytical method development role with a focus on pharmaceutical and/or fine chemical Method Development and Method Validation
- To be considered for this role, you must have experience in a pharmaceutical laboratory and/or fine chemical / pharmaceutical manufacturing environment
- Expertise of analytical instrumentation including HPLC, GC, GPC, LC/MS, GC/MS, AAS, ICP, UV-VIS are a must
- Knowledge of European Pharmacopeia, GMP and/or GLP, ICH are a must
- The technical skills are important in this role but we are also looking for an equally strong leader. We need someone that has a proven track record of team building and a philosophy of professional accountability and maximization of talent.
